Web Desk: An incident of desecration of Holy Quran took place in Jardanwala Tehsil of Faisalabad, the big city of Punjab province. According to the FIR, the citizen is accused of uttering insulting words and desecrating the Holy Quran in Cinema Chowk of Jaranwala. According to the sources, after receiving the information about the incident, the police reached Cinema Chowk and there were pages of the Holy Quran on which insulting words were written in red pen and the accused had fled from the spot. As soon as the news of the incident spread, people came out on the streets, during which the angry people set fire to a church and several houses around it, after this incident the situation in the city became tense and the Rangers were called to control the situation. . According to sources, a case has been registered against the accused under Sections 295B and 295C of blasphemy, under which he can be sentenced to death if found guilty.

After the incident, the agitators reached outside the local church where a few agitators vandalized and then set it on fire. President of the Church of Pakistan, Bishop Azad Marshall, wrote on the social networking website X (Twitter) that the accusation of desecration of the Holy Quran is false. He said that the law enforcement agencies should intervene to protect the people. He further said that all priests, bishops and people are very sad and suffering over this incident. According to Punjab Police, the area has been cordoned off. Officials said that efforts are being made to control the situation by establishing contacts with peace committees.

Caretaker Prime Minister Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar has said that he is shocked to see the scenes from Jaranwala, strict action will be taken against those who violate the law and target minorities. He said that all the law enforcement agencies have been directed to arrest the criminals and bring them to justice and the government of Pakistan stands on the basis of equality with its citizens.

Pakistan Ulema Council Chairman Hafiz Tahir Ashrafi said that religious leaders visited Jaranwala to control the situation. In a statement issued by the Pakistan Ulama Council and the World Interfaith Harmony Council, it was said that the religious leaders are in constant contact with the people to control the situation and promote an environment of understanding.
