Saudi sociologist Talal Al-Nashri has said that there is a need for research on the increasing incidence of divorce in society.
According to the lesson website, Talal Al-Nashri said that according to the report of the Department of Statistics regarding 2022, the number of divorced women in Saudi Arabia has reached 350,000. These figures are alarming.
He said that the number of divorced women requires that university experts explore the causes of divorce by taking into consideration the mental and social aspects and evaluate the situation in depth and thoroughly.
"Try to find out why the divorce rate is increasing so much," he said. What can be the solution to the problem and how can the increasing cases of divorce be stopped?
Talal-ul-Nashri says that there is a need to conduct special courses on engagement before marriage. The new couple should be made aware of the importance, need and motivations for maintaining the relationship.
He said that it is necessary to establish a national platform under the supervision of the experts of the Ministry of Justice. On this platform, people who are compatible with customs and mindsets can meet with the parents of the boy or girl to help in the process of relationship and in case of differences after marriage, they can help to reduce them.
Regarding the common reasons for the increase in divorce rate, he said that 'lack of trust between the couple, mental and physical violence is the main reason. Financial problems are also leading to divorce. New couples also decide to divorce due to reduced sources of income. Drug addiction is also one of the reasons for divorce.
