After the whitewash in the series against South Africa, Shan Masood, the captain of the national Test cricket team, has admitted the shortcomings while breaking his silence.
Speaking to the media after the defeat to South Africa in the second test, he said that the team fought back but in the last moments we could not show the performance that would have won the victory.
"A lot of good things happened in this series, we did well in Centurion, our batting and bowling didn't start well in Cape Town, we added to the level early which was really good," Masood said.
He said that despite many challenges in the team, the fight back in Cape Town is a good sign and we will try to use it properly in the future and fight against the situation to win.
Expressing confidence in the players, the captain said, "I have faith in my entire team and none of us play for personal success, but the aim of performance is always to contribute to the team and ensure that a good result comes out."
Acknowledging the qualities that came out during the series, he said that due to Saim Ayub's injury and absence, we faced difficulties, but the comeback of Babar Azam is a good sign which will be very useful for the future. The squad was also great.

مسعود نے کہا کہ اس سیریز میں بہت سی اچھی چیزیں ہوئیں، ہم نے سینچورین میں اچھی کارکردگی کا مظاہرہ کیا، کیپ ٹاؤن میں ہماری بیٹنگ اور بولنگ کی شروعات اچھی نہیں تھی، ہم جلد ہی اس سطح پر جوڑے جو واقعی اچھی تھی۔
انہوں نے کہا کہ ٹیم میں بہت سارے چلینجز کے باوجود کیپ ٹاؤن میں فائٹ بیک ایک اچھی نشانی ہے اور ہم مستقبل میں اس کا درست استعمال کر کے حالات سے لڑ کر فتح حاصل کرنے کی کوشش کریں گے۔
کپتان نے کھلاڑیوں پر اعتماد کا اظہار کرتے ہوئے کہا کہ مجھے اپنی پوری ٹیم پر بھروسہ ہے اور ہم میں سے کوئی بھی ذاتی کامیابی کیلیے نہیں کھیلتا بلکہ کارکردگی کا مقصد ہمیشہ ٹیم میں حصہ ڈالنا اور اس بات کو یقینی بنانا ہے کہ اچھا نتیجہ نکلے۔
انہوں نے سیریز کے دوران سامنے آنے والی خوبیوں کو تسلیم کرتے ہوئے کہا کہ صائم ایوب کی انجری اور عدم حاضری کی وجہ سے ہمیں مشکلات پیش آئیں البتہ بابر اعظم کا کم بیک ایک اچھی نشانی ہے جو مستقبل کیلیے بہت کام آئے گا اس کے علاوہ ہمارا اسکواڈ بھی زبردست رہا۔
